About IIHS Global - E-Incubator

Aligning with the Mission of the Commonwealth Centre for Digital Health (CWCDH), E-INCUBATOR aims to deliver undergraduate and continuous professional programs (CPD) for nurses utilizing innovative digital technologies that are appropriate for even low resource settings. This is enabled by the award winning IIHS Learner Management System (LMS) which can be accessed from anywhere in the world. The programs are organised within the LMS and allows the use of latest educational technology to provide opportunity for continuous professional development whilst eliminating accessibility barriers.

In keeping with the objectives of setting up partnerships to accelerate implementation, achieve scale, improve efficiency and ensure sustainability of the CCDH, and setting up programs to develop digital health skills through education and training the undergraduate and CPD programs are established through local and international partnerships. IIHS partners with CCDH which allows the reach of these programs to expand from local to global setting. Additionally, internationally reputed education providers are accrediting the programs which increases the worldwide recognition for these programs.

Course Description

The purpose of this course is to develop advanced clinical nurse practitioners who will be able to utilize and apply their cognitive skills to ensure the safety of the surgical patient.

Furthermore the course aims to assist the candidates to function effectively as independent advanced clinical nurse practitioners and members of the multi-disciplinary health care team in the field of Operating Theatre Nursing Science. The students will be able to care for the patient undergoing various methods of anesthesia. The principles of asepsis and microbiology will be emphasized to create a greater awareness in ensuring a safe environment for the surgical patient. It also addesses ethical, moral and legal issues as well as specific considerations for various types of procedures.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to

  • Take charge of a particular individual patient during the Peri-operative period.
  • Ensure the patient safety on a moral and physical level in the respect of the person and his/her rights.
  • Master hospital hygiene, asepsis, and the different methods of disinfection and sterilization.
  • Exhibit competence in all roles of the Perioperative nurse by performing safe, skilled technical practice.
  • Act competently as a circulating nurse and a scrub nurse in the basic techniques of the main specialties of surgery.

Nursing Informatics combines knowledge and skills from nursing science, computer science, information science and cognitive science to design and implement automated systems that support the nursing process in the delivery of healthcare services.

 This course will introduce the student to important informatics tools that are currently being utilized in healthcare to ensure safe and quality care. Electronic Health Records (EHR), telehealth, personal reference management software, Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), and HIPAA will be emphasized

Course description

This course is designed with a view to integrate the components of wholeness in the care of the individual with cancers, concern in health patterns. It will explore evolution of quality of life in oncology, theories and conceptual models, life methodological and measurement issues, clinical implications, cancer survivorship, and quality of life of oncology clients.

This course will help the candidates to apply theoretical knowledge and skills, within the format of the nursing process, in providing Nursing care for cancer patients. This includes involving the use patient's family and community in meeting their needs.
